Admissions

Admission and starting

Introductory information can be found in the attached leaflet, available from here.

Opening Times

We are open Monday to Friday 9.15am until 3.15pm in term-time only. We offer flexible session times between 2.5 and 6 hours. Your child can also bring their packed lunch and stay for lunch between 12.15pm – 12.45pm.

Attendance and Fees

We accept children from the age of 2 years 6 months up until they start school.

The minimum attendance is two sessions per week.

All children are eligible for 15 hours of EYE funding from the term following their third birthday until they go to school. (Effectively 15 hours of free attendance).

In addition, under the "Two Year Offer", some children are entitled to 15 hours of funding from the age of two. To find out if your child is eligible, please follow this link. If your application is successful, we will require the code generated by the application and your child's birth certificate in order to claim funding.

All hours that are not covered by funding will be charged at £4.25 per hour.

Terms and condition for payment of fees or reduction of hours

Registration

We would strongly advise coming to visit us at Rising Fives to see the setting and meet the staff. If you decide to join us, please complete an application form and return it to Rising Fives.

You will receive a letter confirming that your child is registered.

Shortly before your child turns 2y 6m, you will receive a phone call to discuss when you would like them to join us (subject to availability of sessions) and inviting you to visit with your child.

If you no longer wish your child's name to remain on our waiting list, please let us know as soon as possible.

Settling in

Visiting us

We recommend that children come to visit with a parent or carer shortly before they start with us. For most children, three visits usually have them feeling confident and ready to start, but every child is different and we will adapt our induction process to suit each individual.

Key People  (See our  "Learning" page for the role of the Key Person at Rising Fives)

When your child comes to visit, they will meet their key person. The key person will take a special interest in your child, getting to know them, establishing a secure relationship and offering emotional support whilst they are at pre-school. The key person will be there to comfort and reassure your child as they settle in and get used to being at pre-school.

Home Visits

We aim to visit each child at home before they are left with us for the first time. Usually the Manager or Deputy will come to your home with your child's key person. We have found that this helps to establish the relationship between the child and their key person.

Starting

Your child's start date will be the first day on which you leave them in our care. This will also be the first day on which funding is claimed or fees are incurred. Some children may settle better if their carer only leaves for part of the session initially, or comes back early. Your key person will help you to decide what would be best for your child.

Stay and Play

We welcome parents, grandparents and other carers to "Stay and Play" with their children whenever they would like to. We would recommend giving your child a few weeks to get used to pre-school initially, but once they are settled, you can stay for part or all of a session, the only requirement being that you sign in on arrival and out when you leave. This is a lovely way to develop your understanding of what your child does at pre-school and become more involved in your child's learning.

You may bring younger children with you on the understanding that they remain your responsibility at all times.
